The Invisible City – Cartography(ies) of Daily Routes
TransFemina: Soundwalk at Campanhã Train Station
June 29, 2025
Porto, Portugal
On June 29 at Campanhã Station in Porto, we invite the public to an immersive and performative sound experience, the result of a creative process developed within the Porto Local Lab. It was shaped through the mapping of “daily paths,” a real, emotional, and imaginary record of what we see, hear, and feel in public space—but also of what we do not see, do not hear, and do not feel—as we inhabit the city in our daily lives.
How does my perception of space change when walking at night or during the day? What do I carry with me along the way? How do I encounter others? In what way? How do I feel when I stop, when I move? What catches my attention? What do I miss?
These questions were creatively explored during the sessions, investigating and challenging how our bodies occupy public space: through presence, movement, care, disruption... We experimented with vulnerability and empathy as poetic and transformative forces in spaces and relationships—between human and more-than-human communities—creating new narratives and imaginaries, new ways of being, existing, resisting, and desiring collectively.
“How much space, physical and symbolic, do women occupy in cities?”
This question was the starting point for TransFemina: Intersectional Landscapes, a two-year project co-funded by the Creative Europe programme and DGArtes. The project delves into, critically and creatively, the invisibility of feminist narratives and inequalities in the public spaces of Porto, Barcelona, and Modena.
The foundation of TransFemina is anchored in Local Labs taking place in all three cities, involving over 80 participants. From this process, performative actions in public space, immersive soundwalks, and a fanzine will emerge—offering new ways to (re)imagine, occupy, reclaim, and re-signify the cities.
TransFemina is a collaboration between feminist collectives: PELE (Porto, Portugal), Collettivo Amigdala (Modena, Italy), and Col·lectiu Punt 6 (Barcelona, Spain).
The TransFemina Soundwalk is a PELE creation, supported by IP - Infraestruturas de Portugal, STCP - Porto Public Transport Company, and the Parish Council of Bonfim.
Two presentations will be held on June 29, one at 6:00 and other 8:00 pm. Access is free, but requires resgistration due to its limited capacity in result of the public’s movement through the spaces of Campanhã Station and the Intermodal Terminal. The experience will be held in Portuguese and is recommended for ages 12 and up.
Registrations sold out.
