Cartography of Desires
We live in greyness—in our bodies, our days, and our desires.
There is an urgent need to reclaim the right to the freedom of desire, to question and challenge standardized and dominant models of subjectivity production, as an urgent way of constructing, reconstructing, and deconstructing reality.
Cartography of Desires, a title inspired by Suely Rolnik and Félix Guattari, proposes a space and time for reflection and symbolic practice with different groups from Paredes de Coura, Santarém, and Portimão.
It summons the protests of both the unconscious and the conscious, as a process of collective construction of another becoming—this organic and ongoing movement from potential to action.
Individual and collective desires as a source of activation and inspiration for civic and political action.
“Why is it sometimes so hard to define the path we’re taking?”
“How do you know which direction to go?”
We must listen to desire! Desire draws lines, and all those lines together form a great entanglement, a network of words, acts, scenes, things that intertwine us all in a world yet to be discovered! It’s as if an inner map were being drawn, and that map transforms into a movement that flows from the heart and the gut all the way to the soles of the feet.
We walk, we walk, and each point of arrival is always a new point of departure.
Desire is both arrival and farewell!
